HD vs IP CCTV: Which Is Right for Your Business?

10 November 2025 5 min read

Choosing a CCTV system usually comes down to two architectures: analog HD and IP. Both can give you clear footage and remote viewing — but they suit different situations.

Analog HD: cost-effective and simple

HD-over-coax systems are economical and easy to run over existing cabling. For small shops, homes and modest offices, they deliver good day-and-night footage without a large upfront cost.

IP: higher resolution and easier scaling

IP cameras offer higher resolutions, smarter analytics and simpler expansion. They run over network cabling, which makes them a natural fit when you already have (or are installing) structured cabling.
