Almost every CCTV quotation in India will name one of these three. Because we are an authorised partner for all of them, we have no reason to talk one up — which makes an honest comparison possible.
The short version: at the same price point and resolution, the picture quality difference between them is smaller than most people expect. What actually differs is range, software, and service reality.
Are Dahua and CP Plus the same?
No. Dahua is a Chinese manufacturer; CP Plus is a brand sold by India's Aditya Infotech Limited. They are separate companies with their own ranges, pricing and service networks, so a Dahua camera and a CP Plus camera at the same price are not interchangeable. Compare the specific model numbers, not the brand names.
Hikvision is a third, separate manufacturer. All three are widely installed in India, and all three are sold through authorised channel partners, which is where genuine stock and manufacturer warranty come from.
Where they genuinely differ
- Range depth — how many variants exist between the entry model and the specialist one
- Software and app maturity — how well remote viewing behaves on a weak connection
- Availability of spares locally, which decides how fast a failure is fixed
- Warranty handling and how painful a claim actually is
- Price at the specification you actually need, not the headline model
Choosing on specification, not brand
The more useful question is not "which brand" but "which specification", and then "which of these three offers it best at my budget". Decide these first:
- Resolution — do you need to identify a face or number plate, or only observe activity?
- Low light — is the area lit at night, or is the camera doing the lighting?
- Indoor or outdoor, and how exposed
- Analog HD or IP — decided by cabling, site size and growth plans
- How many days of recording you need to keep
Answer those and the shortlist usually narrows to two or three specific models across the three brands — at which point price and local spares availability decide it.
A caution about "branded" quotes
A brand name in a quotation means very little on its own. The same brand sells an entry camera and a specialist camera with a large gap between them. "8 Hikvision cameras" could mean either.
Always ask for the model number in writing. It is the only way to compare two quotations honestly, and any installer who will not put it on paper is telling you something.
Mixing brands
It is generally sensible to keep cameras and recorder from the same brand — compatibility and app experience are simpler. Mixing is possible over standard protocols but can cost you features, and it complicates support when something misbehaves.
What matters more than the badge
In practice, installation quality decides how long a system lasts far more than the brand on the camera. Correct positioning, proper cable termination, weatherproofing done properly, adequate power backup and someone maintaining it — these separate a system still working in year five from one that quietly died in year two.
Buy the specification the site needs, from whichever of the three offers it best, and spend the argument on who installs it rather than whose logo is on it.
